Lets take a look at what causes ageing:

1: LOSS OF FIRMNESS
As we get older our skin loses its firmness and elasticity due to decreased production of collagen and elastin. These two vital ingredients plump and hold your skin taut. The most obvious places to notice this are the cheeks and around the mouth.
There are many treatments available to combat this such as Radiofrequency Collagen Stimulation, Fractional Laser Resurfacing, Mocroneedling, Hylauronic Acid Injections, or Nicro-needling CST such as Dermaroller or Dermapen.

2:PIGMENTATION AND AGE SPOTS
Another issue we have is an increase in pigmentation due to sun damage or hormonal factors. The Melanocytes can become disrupted and start to deposit too much pigment into the keratinocyte in an attempt to protect your DNA from external factors. This can be alleviated somewhat with adequate sun protection but usually also requires some sort of laser intervention.

3. LOSS OF MUSCLE TONE
As we age, we lose muscle tone in our face. Now we can do facial muscle toning excercises, have microcurrent therapy like CACI, or even have a face lift (most modern face lifts are centred around re-draping muscles rather than pulling the skin taut.

4. INCREASE IN VASCULARITIES
Of Course our skin becomes much thinner as we get older. This can lead to many more visible vessels or broken capillaries in the face – usually around the cheeks and nose. These can be accompanied by an increase in flushing and redness in the face also, which can lead to a blotchy appearance. IPL can be used to reduce this surface redness and also to coagulate thread vessels safely. Avoiding alcohol, smoking, and spicy food can also cause some improvement if those are your triggers.

5. FINE LINES AND WRINKLES
A decreased turnover of new collagen makes the existing collagen more likely to get stuck in a crosslinked position; causing the skin to wrinkle over time. Surface wrinkles may be better treated with some laser resurfacing due to the quick and lasting result. Nowadays most laser resurfacing devices have a fractional handpiece, which only ablates minute microdots on the skin, leaving the surrounding healthy tissue. This helps to dramatically reduce healing time and risk of complications. There are superficial and deep options available depending on individual client assessment.
